Spring Bird Walks Being Offered

DERBY — The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection’s Kellogg Environmental Center will begin offering its spring bird walks every first and third Saturday of the month for new and experienced birders and families.

Kellogg Environmental Center volunteer Tom Sharp will conduct the morning walks in search of early spring migrants arriving at Osbornedale State Park.

Programs on the first Saturday of each month meet at 8 am in the parking lot of the center, at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (Route 34). The third Saturday walk participants can meet Mr Sharp at 9 am in the front lobby of the center.

Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and field guides, although a limited number of each will be available. Osbornedale State Park/Kellogg Estate Bird Checklists will be provided free to participants.

Kellogg Environmental Center is adjacent to Osbornedale State Park in Derby. Walks are free and registration is not required. Call 734-2513 for directions or additional information.
