Daniel Allen Hansen

Loved His Family And His Country

Daniel Allen Hansen, 77, of Trumbull, died March 10 at home with his family by his side. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Arne and Evelyn Knudsen Hansen and had been a Trumbull resident 51 years.

He loved his family, which include his beloved wife of 54 years, Ann Scott Hansen; four sons, Steven R. Hansen of Woodbury, recently of Newtown, Daniel S. Hansen and his partner, David Rau, of Chester, Carl T. Hansen and his wife, Theojo, of Trumbull, Robert A. Hansen and his wife, Elvira, of Shelton; two daughters, Karen A. Leslie and her husband, Brian, of Arnside, England, and Christine R. Hansen of Shelton; 12 grandchildren, Ian, Jane, Sean, Zachary, Wesley, Trevor, Gunnar, Vanessa, Dana, Derek, Marc Daniel, and Dana G.; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Lucy; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas A. Hansen.

Mr Hansen was an engineer with Sikorsky for 35 years, retiring 15 years ago. He served his country proudly and was a naval veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy of Kings Point, N.Y., and was a member of its Alumni Association. He was a life member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, having been a member more than 50 years, and also a member of the Sikorsky Retirees.

Mr Hansen was an avid fisherman, boater, and Giants fan, and enjoyed cooking. He loved his country and was proud of his Norwegian heritage.

Friends are invited to attended funeral services Saturday, March 15, meeting directly at 10 am in the Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Road, Trumbull, with the Reverend Joseph Piccirillo, pastor, officiating. Committal prayers will follow in Mt Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 14, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Dennis & D’Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr Hansen’s memory may be made to the Vitas Hospice, 777 Commerce Drive, Suite 220, Fairfield CT 06825 or to the Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Road, Trumbull CT 06611.
