NHS Bicentennial Indians Heading Back To Prom Location
The 50th Class Reunion for the Newtown High School Class of 1976 — when the school’s mascot was still the Indian — is scheduled for the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend, September 5, from 6 to 10 pm.
Alumni and significant others will be heading to The Amber Room in Danbury, where the class celebrated its senior prom half a century ago.
Organizers say this will be the last “official” reunion for the NHS Class of 1976.
The event will include a full elegant buffet dinner with multiple options, a cash bar, a live DJ, and plenty of room for eating, dancing, mingling, and reminiscing.
Tickets are $120 and available at newtownclassof1976reunion.square.site, or checks can be mailed to Dorothy Kelly, 24 Dock Drive, Sandy Hook CT 06482.
Everyone can make a weekend out of it if they choose. Classmate Jay Willie and his band The Willie Portero Trio will be playing from 5-8 pm at NewSylum Brewery, Panacea will again be performing at Dickinson Town Park on Sunday, and the Labor Day Parade will wrap weekend events on Monday.
