Garden Program At The Library
Garden Program At The Library
Gary Ober, co-partner of the Burr Farm Garden Center on Obtuse Road in Brookfield, will give a talk and slide show on âEcological Landscaping and Invasive Plantsâ on Wednesday, March 28, at 10 am in the meeting room of the C.H. Booth Library.
Mr Oberâs talk was originally scheduled for March 7, but had to be rescheduled due to snowstorm Emily.
Mr Ober will focus on identifying some non-native invasive plants commonly found in our area, what we can do as gardeners to keep these aggressive newcomers under control, as well as some examples of native plants that can be planted in our gardens and yards to help restore native biodiversity. Japanese Barberry, Asiatic bittersweet, burning bush, some honeysuckles, and even purple loosestrife fall into the category of non-native and invasive.
So before heading to the garden center this spring learn which plants in the garden to weed, and which ones to nurture.
This program is free and open to the public. Please call the library at 426-4533 to reserve a place or if you have any questions.
