Aquarion Water Co. Sponsors Scholarship Competition

BRIDGEPORT — Aquarion Water Company has launched a Celebrating Excellence Scholarship Contest to commemorate its 150th Anniversary that will result in $1,000 awards for graduating high school seniors in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

A high school graduating student from each of Aquarion Water’s service states will receive a $1,000 prize for demonstrated academic excellence by writing an essay to answer “How Has Water Changed Our Lives Over the Past 150 Years?”

A team of Aquarion Water Company employees and customer advisory board members will serve as judges for the scholarship entries. In addition to the essay, scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership skills, and extracurricular and community service involvement.

“Because the employees of Aquarion Water Company are committed to encouraging academic excellence among our youth, we are pleased to recognize our students’ scholastic achievements as we celebrate this significant anniversary,” said Adrienne C. Vaughan, 150th anniversary team member and corporate communications director.

The deadline for all applications is Friday, May 4, at 5 pm. Scholarship applications have been provided to high schools in Aquarion Water’s service areas. An online application is also available to print at aquarionwater.com.
