Chris Body (Western New England College men’s lacrosse) – The Golden Bears opened the season at 2-0-0 with a 13-6 win over Union College and a 7-6 overtime win over Hartwick College in Springfield. Massachusetts. Body - a 2006 All-Pilgrim League first team pick and a preseason All-American selection – earned both wins in the cage, allowing the 12 goals while stopping 22 shots. For a .647 save percentage and 5.88 goals-against average. Body concluded the 2006 campaign with an 11-2 mark and made 147 saves in 14 games.

Casey Kirch (Sacred Heart University men’s lacrosse) – The Pioneers opened the 2007 season at 1-2-0 with losses to Colgate (14-5) and Manhattan (10-8) and a win over Wagner (22-5). Kirch, a captain, has appeared in all three games while registering a goal and an assist with five shots (three on the cage).

John Oliver (St. Mary’s College men’s lacrosse) – The junior attackman scored a goal and assisted on another as the Seahawks pounded Neumann College, 27-1, on March 3 and then added an assist in a 10-8 loss to No. 17 Villa Julie on March 10. Oliver has started in all four games for the 2-2 Seahawks and has five goals and two assists. He has also scooped four ground balls along the way. Entering the season, Oliver – a 2004 graduate of Newtown High School, had four goals and an assist on his career.

Brian Sharnick (Brown University men’s lacrosse) – The Bears opened the season at 2-1, rebounding off a  12-11 overtime loss to the University of Maryland at Baltimore County with a 7-6 win over Hofstra and a 7-3 win over Providence. Sharnick started all three games.

David Kugielsky (Savannah College of Art & Design men’s lacrosse) – The Bees evened their mark in 2007 to 3-3 with a 25-1 rout of The Citadel on March 10 in a Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Division B match.

Pat Coakley (Ohio Wesleyan University baseball) – After missing all of his freshman season undergoing shoulder surgery, Coakley – a graduate of Bridgton Academy – returned to the field for the Battling Bishops. A catcher, Coakley has yet to appear for the 1-2 Bishops.

Pete Oggeri (Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball) – Oggeri, a freshman catcher, collected hits in his first four collegiate games as Wentworth opened the 2007 season in Port Charlotte, Florida. As of Tuesday, Oggeri was 4-for-12 with four singles, leading off for the 1-3 Leopards against Fontbonne and Anderson colleges.

Kim Solheim (Christopher Newport University women’s lacrosse) – The Lady Captains opened the 2007 season at 4-2 with wins over Ferrum College (18-3), NC Wesleyan (20-1), Sweet Briar College (16-2) and Shenandoah University (22-4). Solheim, a freshman D-wing and center, has appeared in five games and registered one shot while scooping four ground balls.

Jenna Van Waalwijk (Muhlenberg College women’s softball) – The Lady Mules opened the 2007 season at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida, with just three wins in 10 games. The Mules lost their first four contests before defeating Heidelberg, 9-6, and Westminster (PA), 6-1. On the final day of the trip south, the Mules stopped Wittenberg, 3-2. Van Waalwijk doubled in a 2-1 loss to Wheaton, Illinois, on March 8.

Kacy Foehrenbach (Keene State women’s basketball) – The Owls earned their first ever berth to the NCAA Division III tournament, but saw their season come to an end with a 77-52 loss to top ranked Bowdoin College on Saturday. The Owls concluded the 2006-07 season with a best-ever record of 22-7. Foehrenbach finished her freshman season appearing in 14 games, averaging four minutes a contest. She was 3-for-11 from the field for six points and added four assists and a steal along the way.

Tim Lux (Middlebury College swimming & diving) – Middlebury College finished at the NESCAC championships and began competition in the NCAA championships on March 15. At the NESCAC championships, Lux finished second in the 50 breaststroke at 26.89, was the second leg of the 400 medley ‘A’ relay which took second at 3:25.53, finished third in the 100 breaststroke at 58.94 and eighth in the 200 breaststroke at 2:14.88.

Kyle Tyll (Sacred Heart University ice hockey) – Tyll scored a goal as the Pioneers shut down American International, 4-0, in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals on March 10. The Pioneers earned the top seed in the tournament, concluding the regular season at 20-10-4. The Pioneers move on to the semifinals on Friday to face the winner of the Holy Cross/Air Force contest.

Meg Regnery (Sacred Heart University women’s lacrosse) – The Lady Pioneers opened the 2007 season at 1-2, starting with a 10-9 win over Binghamton followed by a 13-12 loss to Brown and a 12-8 loss to Sacred Heart. Regnery has yet to appear on the field.

Christina Wolf (Southern Connecticut State University softball) – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team will open its 2007 season on Thursday, March 15 with a double-header match-up against St. Thomas Aquinas on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida.The Owls had their first two scheduled games postponed due to inclement weather. As a freshman last year, Wolf had one hit in 17 trips to the plate.
