Girl Scouts Luncheon

BETHEL — The Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut invites the public to attend its annual Strong Girl-Strong Future Luncheon.

Each year the Council provides an opportunity for people to learn more about the programs Girl Scouting provides and how to help those programs reach more girls in the 15 Fairfield County towns and cities in the council’s jurisdiction.

While one out of every five girls age 5 to 17 in the area is already a Girl Scout, the council’s goal is to make Girl Scouting available to every girl. The proven Girl Scout program builds character, respect and skills for success in the real world, and provides preparedness and anti-bullying trainings that make girls independent and in control. With this background, when girls meet – whether at school, on the basketball court or a hiking trail, or in a movie theater – positive Girl Scout principles surface and help girls to avoid conflict and interact positively.

This year’s luncheon will take place on Thursday March 25, from 11:30 am to 1 pm, at the Three Oaks Room of Capellaro’s Grove, 42 Vail Road. The program will provide an update on Girl Scout initiatives and a panel discussion on the topic of “The Philanthropic Imperative: Making Your Money Talk.”

Featured panelists are tri-level Girl Scout volunteer Doon Foster from Wilton; Susan Kania, the director of development at Danbury Hospital; and philanthropist and community activist Christine Lodewick of Ridgefield. The moderator is Marcia Guberman, vice president, Business Development Advisor of Fleet Bank Business Financial Services.

Anyone interested in learning more about present Girl Scout initiatives is encouraged to attend the fundraising luncheon. Cost is $25 per person, and reservations are requested.

Call Deb Randall at 203-762-5557.
