DANBURY — There is still time to reserve tickets and enjoy the Drifters at the annual dinner dance auction of the Danbury Regional Commission on Child Care, Rights, and Abuse, Inc. The “When You Wish Upon a Star” event is set for Saturday, March 25, at the Danbury Hilton (note the change of location this year). Cost is $50 per person.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will start the evening at 6; dinner and dancing to the Clark Eno Orchestra will begin at 7. The menu will feature a choice of chicken jardiniere, sole florentine, stuffed loin of pork, or vegetable pasta.

The silent auction will be going on simultaneously between 6 and 8:30 pm. The Drifters will open their show at 9 pm.

Auction items include Broadway play tickets, a complete new bathroom, a state coin collection, Yankees and Mets tickets, sports items, an autographed Darth Vadar mask, autographed children’s books and pictures, weekend getaways, various gift certificates, and a complete tailgate party for 32 people for a pre-season game in August to be played by the New York Giants. This trip includes a bus.

The Drifters was formed over 40 years ago and has been a vehicle for talent to drift in and out of for more than 100 performers. More than 50 singers recorded with the Drifters’ 18 hit records.

For additional information or reservations for Saturday evening’s event, call the commission’s office at 748-4542 as soon as possible. The office is open Monday through Friday, and tickets will not be sold at the door.
