Interstate Crash

State police report motorist Tyler J. DuBois, 22, of Coventry, who was driving a 1999 Ford pickup truck eastbound in the right lane of Interstate-84 near Exit 9, went into the left lane, forcing motorist Rosemarie A. Dixon, 23, of Danbury, who was driving a 1990 Mitsubishi sedan, onto the highway median, where she struck several trees, about 6 pm March 17.

Other details on the accident were not available.

Rocks Off Truck

State police report that a heavy truck driven by Lou Ann Santiago, 40, of Bridgeport, which was hauling a gravel conveyor westbound on Interstate-84 near Exit 11 about 2:40 pm March 15, dropped rocks onto the roadway, which struck a Saab sedan driven by Christopher Gardner, 29, of 4 Mt Pleasant Terrace, Newtown, and also struck a 1992 Plymouth Sundance driven by Linda E. Girdlostone, 39, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

 There were no injuries. State police said Santiago was hauling an unsecured load.

I-84 Rollover

State police report motorist Richard M. Sippin, 45, of Danbury, was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi sedan westbound on Interstate-84 near Exit 9 about 11:15 pm March 15 when he fell asleep at the wheel, lost control of the auto, and rolled over on the highway median.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the scene after Mr Sippin reported neck and back pain, state police said.

  State police said Mr Sippin made an unsafe turn.

 

Two Charges

Police report they observed a vehicle being driven fast and recklessly March 15 and stopped it on Long View Heights Road. Police said they charged the driver, Stephen Karolczuk, 17, of 30 Hanover Road, with reckless driving. Police said they also charged him with third-degree forgery for possession of an altered driver’s license. Police released Karolczuk for an appearance March 24 in Danbury Superior Court.

Off The Road

Police report that motorist Christopher P. Landock, 33, of Seymour, who was driving a 1988 Honda CRX-SI eastbound on Route 34 about 10:15 pm March 17, while making a curve in the road to the left between Sherman Street and Zoar Road, began to go off the right side of the road, hit a patch of sand, lost control, overcorrected the car’s steering, and then crossed over both lanes of the road, went off the left road shoulder, climbed an embankment and struck some trees and rocks.

Landock then drove the badly damaged car back onto Route 34 and headed eastbound, turning off onto Zoar Road, where he was found with a deep cut in his scalp, police said.

Landock was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said. Enforcement action is pending.
