Little Altars For Little Tykes

RIDGEFIELD — In the spirit of the Aldrich Museum’s current exhibition called “Faith,” local artist Chris Durante will encourage and inspire the little ones to create their very own mini-altars on the spring morning of Saturday, April 8, from 10 am to noon.

In this hands-on workshop, Mr Durante will provide children ages 4-5 with a variety of materials and support their individual creativity by giving prompt, suggestions and guidance. At the conclusion of the two-hour workshop, the resulting masterpieces are guaranteed to be as varied and distinct as the premises of the world’s different religions.

Parents of the artists are invited, and even encouraged to attend. The workshop is limited to 15 children, and reservations and prepayment are required.

Chris Durante is a professional artist and has led several children’s workshops at the Aldrich Museum. He studied at Western Connecticut State University and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His work is featured in “Aldrich Editions,” a series of limited edition and unique works by nationally recognized and emerging artists.

The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is at 258 Main Street (Route 35). For directions and reservations call the museum at 203/438-4519.
