Police Report More Thefts From Unlocked Vehicles

Police report another series of thefts from unlocked vehicles, which occurred overnight on March 12/13.

The incidents occurred on Crossbrook Road, Longview Heights Road, Pleasant Hill Road, Ashford Lane, and Fairchild Drive. The incidents occurred between 11:30 pm on March 12 and 4:30 am on March 13, police said.

In each of the cases, someone simply opened an unlocked vehicle that was parked near a residence and stole small valuable items from within. Forced entry into the vehicles was not necessary because the vehicles were not locked. The small valuables that were stolen included jewelry, police said.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the incidents to contact them at 270-4255.

Last week, police reported ten cases of theft of small valuable items from unlocked motor vehicles early on the morning of March 11. Those thefts occurred on Dogwood Terrace, Appleblossom Lane, Bonnie Brae Drive, and Cedar Hill Road.

Police urge that residents keep their vehicles locked wherever they may be parked. If it is necessary to keep valuable items within a vehicle, those items should be kept out of plain sight, such as in the trunk or beneath a car seat.
