How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for 42 years. I was raised here.
Biggest Change You Have Seen in Town: Too much overdevelopment. What was once fields and farms are now houses and paved roads. It takes away from the charm of Newtown.
Family: My husband Larry and I have been married for 21 years.
Pets: We have a Maine Coon cat named Friskie. Â
Hobbies: Doing my family tree, photography, and camping.
Favorite Books and Authors: I donât have time to read very much. I read The Newtown Bee. Itâs intriguing because of all the topics. âWay We Wereâ is my favorite thing to read. I also enjoy âSnapshotâ and letters to the editor.
Favorite TV Show: Only the news. I like music. I play a lot of music at home, and do my family tree while Iâm listening. I think TV is a big waste of time.
Organizations: Connecticut Society of Genealogists and Mohonk Preserve in New Paltz, N.Y., which preserves open space and animals.
Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: My old neighborhood, Pootatuck Park, and the way it was years ago in the winter in the early 60s. We had no power for three days. We used a gas stove to cook, wood stove to heat, and kerosene lamps to see. We pulled our groceries home on sleds. There was no plowing because the road was private. I remember my father built me an igloo with a glass door.
Favorite Vacation Spot: The beach in Sandy Hook, N.J. We go camping at Cheese Quake State Park and from there go to the beach. Weâre going to spend two weeks there this year.
Personal Philosophy: Not to waste any time â life is too short. To treat others the way I want to be treated.
