DANBURY â The Congregational Church of New Fairfield will present Salt and Pepper Gospel Singers and The New Amsterdam Boys Choir in concert on Sunday, April 2, at 4 pm. The concert will be at First Congregational Church of Danbury, on Deer Hill Avenue.
Salt and Pepper Gospel Choir is a 40-plus voice choir which sings traditional black gospel music under the direction of Ronald Pollard. Interracial and non-denominational, the choir has performed at celebrated theaters such as Alice Tulley Hall at Lincoln Center and The Apollo Theater. They have also raised their voices to spread the good news of Jesus Christ on the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C., and on The Today Show.
The New Amsterdam Boys Choir was founded to enrich the lives of young men, using choral singing to promote self-pride and the belief that they can live their dreams. Serving the East Harlem Community for 12 years, the program has benefited more than 100 boys.
Proceeds from the concert will help support the Congregational Church of New Fairfieldâs Martha Fairchild Gardens, a Biblical garden with a memorial wall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children grades 12 and under, and may be purchased at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield or at the door of First Congregational Church the afternoon of the performance.
