Building on momentum following a strong Connecticut State and League tournament season, the Newtown Youth Wrestling squad hit the road for the Carmel Rams Youth Wrestling Tournament on March 10 at Carmel High School in New York.
Building on momentum following a strong Connecticut State and League tournament season, the Newtown Youth Wrestling squad hit the road for the Carmel Rams Youth Wrestling Tournament on March 10 at Carmel High School in New York.
Newtown Youth Wrestling had a strong showing with three champions and several second and third placings. Coach Chris Bray traveled with the team and was pleased with the effort and continued progress.
In the Schoolboy division, Sam Wiener won his weight class and Nicholas Crudo placed third; in the Novice division, Darjay Gyamcho won his weight class, Kevin Ross Jr. placed second and Matt Gonzalez and Edward Lajoie placed third; in the Midget division, Andy Hubina and Luca Crudo placed second, and Owen Richard placed third; and in the Bantam division, Edward Lovely won his weight class and Tiernan Keane placed third.
The team had planned to travel to Burnt Hills, New York, for their annual tournament on Saturday, March 17, but it was postponed due to the snow storm
 The team travels next to the Brewster, New York, Youth Tournament on Sunday, March 25.
