Chris Body (Western New England College men's lacrosse) - The Golden Bears improved to 3-0-0 with a 16-8 win over Amherst on March 14. Body made 14 saves in the cage to record his third win of the season.

Chris Body (Western New England College men’s lacrosse) – The Golden Bears improved to 3-0-0 with a 16-8 win over Amherst on March 14. Body made 14 saves in the cage to record his third win of the season.

Carly Curran (University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse) – The Lady Huskies have opened the season at 5-1 with wins over Central Connecticut (16-4), Stanford (16-10), UC Davis (13-9), California (13-12) and Harvard (15-8). The only loss thus far was to Yale (11-7). Curran, a freshman defender and former Connecticut Super Junior Top 25, has appeared in three games and has scooped one ground ball along the way.

Casey Kirch (Sacred Heart University men’s lacrosse) – The Pioneers opened the 2007 season at 1-2-0 with losses to Colgate (14-5) and Manhattan (10-8) and a win over Wagner (22-5). A game against Binghamton on March 17 was cancelled due to weather. Kirch, a captain, has appeared in all three games while registering a goal and an assist with five shots (three on the cage).

John Oliver (St. Mary’s College men’s lacrosse) – The Seahawks improved to 4-2 with wins over Dickinson (11-10) and Messiah College (8-7) last week. Oliver had a goal and two assists in the win over Messiah but had his best performance in the win over Dickinson, registering three goals and an assist. On the year, the junior attackman had nine goals and five assists.

Brian Sharnick (Brown University men’s lacrosse) – The Bears improved to 4-1 with wins over Bellarmine (9-8) and the University of Massachusetts (7-4). Sharnick had a ground ball in the win over Bellarmine and another in the win over UMass and has started all five games for the Bears.

David Kugielsky (Savannah College of Art & Design men’s lacrosse) – The Bees dropped to 3-4 with a 13-5 loss to Virginia Polytech on March 11 in Savannah, Georgia.

Pat Coakley (Ohio Wesleyan University baseball) – After missing all of his freshman season undergoing shoulder surgery, Coakley – a graduate of Bridgton Academy – returned to the field for the Battling Bishops. A catcher, Coakley has yet to appear for the 5-6 Bishops.

Pete Oggeri (Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball) – The Leopards salvaged their Florida trip with an 8-1 win over Becker and a 6-5 win over Castleton State to improve to 3-5 on the season. In the win over Becker, Oggeri – a freshman catcher – was 0-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. In the win over Castleton, Oggeri was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Through eighth games, Oggeri is batting .333 (9-for-27) with a double, two RBI and eight runs scored. He has been plunked three times by pitches and has stolen four bases in four attempts. Behind the dish, the catcher has made 40 putouts with five assists.

Kim Solheim (Christopher Newport University women’s lacrosse) – The Lady Captains improved to 6-3 with wins over Guilford College (19-12) and Averett (19-3). Solheim, a freshman D-wing and center, has appeared in seven games and registered two shots while scooping four ground balls.

Jenna Van Waalwijk (Muhlenberg College women’s softball) – The Lady Mules opened the 2007 season at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida, with just three wins in 10 games. The Mules lost their first four contests before defeating Heidelberg, 9-6, and Westminster (PA), 6-1. On the final day of the trip south, the Mules stopped Wittenberg, 3-2. Van Waalwijk doubled in a 2-1 loss to Wheaton, Illinois, on March 8. Weather forced the postponement of games on March 17, 18 and 20 and Cortland State is next on the ledger this Saturday.

Kyle Tyll (Sacred Heart University ice hockey) – The Pioneers dropped a 5-4 decision to Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey Conference semifinals last week, finishing the 2006-07 season at 21-11-4. In those 36 games, Tyll, a sophomore forward and graduate of Trinity-Pawling, registered seven goals, three assists, and 10 points with a plus/minus of +2.

Meg Regnery (Sacred Heart University women’s lacrosse) – The Lady Pioneers dropped to 1-3 following a 16-12 loss to Stony Brook. Regnery has yet to appear on the field.

Christina Wolf (Southern Connecticut State University softball) – The Lady Owls opened the 2007 season on fire, winning four in a row before being tripped up in a doubleheader sweep by No. 16 Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Florida. The Lady Owls rebounded with a doubleheader sweep over Lynn University on Monday in Boca Raton, Florida. Wolf,a  sophomore infielder/outfielder, has appeared in five games (starting one) and is 1-for-6 with a run scored. In the field, she has registered one putout and two assists in three chances.
