The Newtown Bounce fifth-grade girls travel basketball team closed out the 2006-07 season with a little bit of class.
The team hosted its first Mother/Daughter game on Wednesday, March 14, and began the festivities with dinner and speeches at My Place Restaurant on Queen Street. From there, the girls were whisked to the game via limousine â complements of Newtown Limo.
The Bounce won the game, and the bragging rights with their mothers, by virtue of a 28-21 tally. Mary Joe Rossi tossed in 10 points with Danielle Shine and Jenny Indelicato combining for 10 more. Kerry Scallon, Jamison Fletcher, Kristie VosWinkel, Carly Ferris, Rebecca Grant and Jessie Principi had fine efforts.
Lucy Rossi and Nancy Scallon led the Bouncettes with eight points each followed by Cathy Indelicato, Beckie Ferris and Denise VosWinkel. Patti Principi, Amy Grant and Kim Shine orchestrated the offense and Jordana Bloom dominated the boards.
After the game, Joe âElvisâ Grant, coach of the Bouncettes, talked about a re-match and then âleft the building.â
