Hike In Search Of Spring
Hike In Search Of Spring
WESTON â The Nature Conservancy invites adults to join natural history guides for a walk on Tuesday, April 11, from 1 to 3 pm, to experience the beginning of spring and to look for signs of new greenery as participants walk trails at the 1,746-acre Devilâs Den Preserve. The preserveâs main entrance is at the end of Pent Road in Weston.
As leaves and buds begin to swell, birds will return to The Denâs large forest to start the cycle of reproduction, and certain early wildflowers will try to bloom before leaves from the many trees at The Den shade them from the sun.
Doris Falk and Howard Pierpont will lead the walk. Trained natural history guides for The Nature Conservancy, they will lead participants to the Ambler Vista and gorge. Expected spring rains should brim the waterfall and stream.
This is a good opportunity for adults to learn about the history of man and nature at The Den while experiencing some different trails at the preserve. No reservations are required, but participants should call the Devilâs Den office at 203/226-4991 between 9 am and 5 pm weekdays for information or directions.
