John Eric Toi, 51, of Saddle Ridge Road, Newtown, died March 20 in Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Paula (Erickson) Toi.
Mr Toi was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia, on May 27, 1952, a son of Irene (Holberg) Toi, of Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and the late Harri Toi. He grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and was a graduate of Michael Power High School, the University of Toronto, and was a member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Mr Toi had a fulfilling professional career that culminated with his promotion to vice president of the Gen Re Corporation in Stamford, a position he held for seven years. He has lived in Newtown for the past six-and-one-half years.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his three children: John Michael Toi, Stefan Robert Toi, and Erika Irene Toi, all of Newtown; three sisters: Maret Burdeney of Oakville, Ontario, Juta Coulter of Mississauga, Ontario, and Kim Gillespie of Hamilton, Ontario.
Funeral services were held March 24 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown.
Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
