Show Tunes And_Jazz: Music Programs Slated At Museum

WATERBURY — Music will liven the exhibition galleries at Mattatuck Museum during April, when special musical programs are scheduled.

On Thursday, April 13, at 7 pm, the Rev David Jarvis, interim minister of the First Congregational Church in Waterbury, will reveal his talent on the piano, playing favorites by Gershwin, along with popular show tunes.

On Sunday, April 16, at 2 pm, visitors can enjoy an afternoon of cool jazz and soulful vocals when Judd Watts and friends entertain with the mellow sounds of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller and Glenn Miller. Suggested donation for both programs is $5. Refreshments will be served after the programs.

On Sunday, April 30, at 2 pm, Old Paint will weave musical tales of cowboys, hoboes and America’s past and present on acoustic guitars and harmonicas. Admission to that program is free thanks to a grant from the Ellis A. Gimbel Trust.

The Mattatuck Museum is at 144 West Main Street in Waterbury. For further information, call the museum at 203/753-0381.
