St Rose Plans Family Day

St Rose Church is inviting the community to participate in Family Day on Saturday, April 8, at the church. There will be breakfast and lunch, children’s activities, and speakers addressing pertinent topics about family life.

Sim and Lisa Johnston will present “For Better or For Best” at 10 am in the hall. The couple, parents of four children, have had significant involvement in family enrichment programs and teach marriage preparation for the Archdiocese of New York. A Harvard graduate and former investment banker, Mr Johnston is a freelance writer who recently published the book Did Darwin Get It Right? Lisa Johnston runs a pre-school catechism program, “The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd,” in New York.

At 12:30 in the hall, James J. Drummey will present “Raising Children Well in the Third Millennium.” Mr Drummy, father of nine and graduate of Boston College, is parish religion coordinator at St Stephen Church in Framingham, Mass. He is co-author and publisher of the four-book Catholicism series for high school students, college students, and adults. Since 1991 he has been the writer of “Catholic Replies,” a newspaper column, and wrote a book of the same name.

Programs will be available for children ages four and older.

The cost of the event is $35 per family or $10 for an individual. Registrations including the names of those participating and the ages of children 4 through 12 may be sent to St Rose of Lima, Family Day, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown 06470, or may be dropped off at the office inside the front door of the rectory.

For more information call the Rev Peter Towsley at 426-2572.
