Co-Op Nursery Visits Animal Hospital

Members of the morning four year old class of Newtown Congregational Co-Op Nursery recently went to Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital for a field trip, one of many field trips to local Newtown businesses the pre-school has taken.

The hospital’s office manager took the time to show the children the operating room. Young Amy Martin donned operating gloves, mask, and a gown in order to lend an element of authenticity.

Children took the time to look at x-rays of turtles, snakes, dogs, and cats, as well as learn something about safety. Proper safety steps when handling stray animals were discussed.

The nursery school is looking forward to future trips to the police department and the highway department.

According to The Topps Company, Inc., makers of Bazooka gum, the longest gum wrapper chain ever made was done by a woman in Washington, who spent 18 years making one almost 6,000 feet long.
