Discovery Science Fair A Success
Discovery Science Fair A Success
To the Editor:
On this past Saturday the Newtown Junior Womanâs Club held the annual Discovery Science Fair in the cafeteria of the Newtown High School. Held as a non-competitive event with each student receiving a ribbon and certificates of participation, it was a joy to see so many of our children exhibiting their science projects.
Many special thank-yous need to be expressed to those behind the scenes that make the project a success. Financial backing from the Newtown Savings Bank, the Taunton Press and the Dock, Inc., assisted with goods donated by Bagelman, Grand Union, and Big Y, make the event possible. The many members of the Newtown Junior Womanâs Club that orchestrate and work the event. Assistance from Dr Reed, Mr Manfredonia, all the office staff at all the schools and the Board of Ed, and especially the custodial staff at the high school with patience and co-operative efforts to help us in many ways. Very special thank you to our âofficials,â Barbara Bingham, Gail Malek, Toni Bojonowski, JoAnn Peters, Debbie Cowdan, Alan McEmber and Linda Cunningham. Your time and efforts make the event enjoyable and valuable.
A thank you to Mad Science and âElectric Edâ for his great presentation for the children. Stimulating an interest in the sciences is our goal and this program certainly fit the agenda.
The biggest thank you of all to each parent and child that took the time and effort to participate; it cannot be done without you.
We certainly hope everyone enjoyed the experience and had an enjoyable morning.
With many thanks and appreciation.
