NUSAR Goes Beneath The Sea

Four members of the Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue (NUSAR) dive team attended the 24th annual Beneath the Sea exposition on Sunday, March 26. Beneath the Sea, the largest dive consumer show in North America, was held at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, N.J., March 24 through 26.

The members attended seminars and workshops, and visited many of the 300 exhibit booths. They learned about the newest diving products and services from the equipment manufacturers. They saw historical diving equipment displays from diving museums across the country. They saw salvaged artifacts from some of the world’s most famous shipwrecks. They shared dive adventure stories with fellow divers from many other areas.

One member attended a three-hour hands-on workshop on underwater equipment maintenance. Another attended the inauguration and first public reception to recognize a select group of women into the newly formed Woman Divers Hall of Fame.

NUSAR is a donation-funded dive and surface rescue team that consists of volunteers who spend many hours training. The members often attend certification programs and expositions such as Beneath the Sea to continue their education. Anyone interested in more information about NUSAR can contact NUSAR President Carl Sieling at 270-0725.
