Pack 70 Scouts Cook Up Great Cakes

The Cub Scouts of Hawley School’s Pack 70 broadened their range of talents last week with their father-son cake bake contest at their monthly pack meeting.

Cubmaster Bill Calderara struck the theme with a “Recipe for Old Glory,” symbolizing the great American attributes for which our flag stands. Wolf Den Four creatively interpreted the theme in their stage skit, “Cub Grub.”

After some close judging, several awards were announced. Jeff Russell won the Grand Prize, while many superlatives rounded out the contest: Most Original Creation, Spencer Scott; Most Suitably Named, Kyle Murphy; Biggest, Derek Calderara; Tallest, Colin Nanavaty; Flattest, Stephen Ashbolt; Yummiest Looking, Sean and Brendan O’Connell; Technical Excellence, Andrew Mangold; Pure Poison, Patrick Dunseith; Most Dangerous, Thaddeus, Tyler and Josh Adams; Smallest, Alex Hennessey; Most Colorful, Robert DeFilippe; Best Presentation, Jacob Berg; Most Chocolate, T.J. Faeth; Heaviest, Eric Randlov; Gooiest, Ricky Camejo; Best Campsite, Michael Mandell; Most Patriotic, Devin Wiggins; and Best Easter Theme, Nicky Wolfe.
