As A Neighbor, It's Not So Hot
As A Neighbor, Itâs Not So Hot
To the Editor:
In the March 2 issue, there was a review of Hot Shots Grille. I was going to write at that time, but decided not to. However, after being awakened last night at 1 am to yelling and screaming in their parking lot, Iâve changed my mind. Your article seemed to paint Hot Shots as more of a family restaurant than a bar. I would have to disagree.
I have the pleasure of living behind Hot Shotsâ parking lot. We bought our house when the Taunton Tavern was in that location. That was a quiet restaurant with no bar crowd. Hot Shots is a different story. For years my neighbors and I have complained about the noise from Hot Shots. I realize they are commercially zoned and can run whatever type of establishment they choose, but some neighborly cooperation would be appreciated.
It is quite disconcerting to be awakened to the sound of yelling, screaming, and bottles breaking. The police have been called several times. The last time was about three weeks ago, on a Tuesday night, when my neighbor called the police due to a loud brawl in the parking lot. I was told that four police cars showed up and an ambulance. I have two children who also get to hear some of the colorful language and antics that go on in the parking lot. It is especially enjoyable in the summer when our windows are open. Not only do we get to listen to the people in the parking lot, but we get to hear the wonderful musical entertainment too.
I am guessing by the behavior of these people that some have had too much to drink. It would be nice if Hot Shots could periodically check their parking lot, not only for the safety of their patrons but out of consideration to their neighbors.
