Danbury VNA Gets Gold Seal Accreditation
DANBURY â The Joint Commission has awarded its Gold Seal of Approval to Danbury Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), Inc, which demonstrated its compliance with national standards for health care quality and safety during a triennial, unannounced on-site survey in January.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the quality of the nationâs health care through voluntary accreditation. Danbury VNA provides skilled nursing, rehabilitative therapy, medical social work, home health aides, and respiratory and nutrition therapy services in the home.
âIn becoming accredited, the Danbury VNA was evaluated against a set of national standards by a Joint Commission surveyor experienced in the delivery of home care services,â according to Maryanne Popovich, RN, executive director of the Home Care Accreditation Program. âAchieving accreditation demonstrates the Danbury VNAâs commitment to providing high quality and safe care to its patients.â
According to Ann Faraguna, RN, MPH, executive director of Danbury VNA, accreditation by the Joint Commission shows that âwe make significant investments in quality on a day to day basis from the top down. We seek accreditation for our agency because we want to be the best, and we view obtaining this accreditation as yet another step toward excellence.â
Ms Faraguna noted that accreditation is attainable only through the cooperation and communication among staff members.
âEveryone at Danbury VNA plays a valuable role in working to meet the standards. I believe the staff have a feeling of prestige working in an accredited organization,â she said. âWe view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as an achievement of excellence.â
