The Discovery Science Workshops

To the Editor:

On March 24, the Newtown Junior Women’s Club and the Newtown Board of Education presented the 15th annual Discovery Science Workshops at Newtown High School. We wish to thank all of our volunteers and donors whose generosity allowed us to provide the program free of charge to over 300 children in Newtown.

Heartfelt thanks go out to our 25 leaders and their helpers who presented 45 workshops. Thanks also to the middle and high school students who assisted with escorting, carrying supplies, and supporting this effort on Saturday morning.

The faculty and staff of Newtown High School were invaluable in contributing to the success of the workshops. In addition, we would also like to thank the following donors: Poland Spring, Bagel Delight, Starbucks, and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Last but not least, thank you to all of the attendees who contributed to the program’s success by supporting our bake sale and Scholastic Book Fair. The proceeds help fund the Back-to-School Backpack and Tag-A-Gift programs.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the morning of scientific exploration and thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Stacie Doyle & Marya Gaiser
