William E. Sherwood, 72, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Joanne Szilagyi Sherwood, died March 27 in Bridgeport Hospital.
In addition to his devoted wife of 30 years, Mr Sherwoodâs memory will be cherished by his family, including his children William Sherwood, Jr, and his wife, Evelyn, and Wayne Sherwood of Sandy Hook, Tina Hovey of Waterbury, Sheryl Kida and her husband, Andrzej, of Ansonia; grandchildren Jaime and Jenna Harned, Courtney Hovey, Brandon and Erika Sherwood, Adam Kida; great-grandson Alex Hamed; brothers Andrew and Kenneth; sisters, Shirley, Denise, Renee, and Dawn; former wife Deanna McKeevey of Sandy Hook; many nieces and nephew; and his canine buddies, Jiggles, Oreo, and Bingo.
Born in Tulsa, Okla., Mr Sherwood was a resident of Bridgeport and Sandy Hook for many years before moving to Fairfield 30 years ago. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. A skilled truck driver and dedicated worker, he began his career with Hartley and Parker, and more recently was employed with Curtis Packaging Company and Reliable Waste.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, at 10 am, in the Lesko & Polka Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Burial will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday from 4 to 8 pm.
