James L. Jossick Jr
James L. Jossick Jr, 69, of Newtown, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Danbury Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 23, 1956, in Bridgeport, James graduated from Newtown High School in Sandy Hook. He then joined the family-founded specialty metallurgical manufacturing company, Connecticut Engineering Associates Corporation (CEAC) in Sandy Hook. He played a key role in its growth and advancement, eventually rising to president.
Following the acquisition and subsequent split of the company, he became Marketing and Sales manager for Omni Technologies Corporation, a family-owned and operated business in New Hampshire. He maintained a pilot office in his hometown of Newtown, where he continued to contribute his expertise.
Later, after the acquisition of Omni, James served as lead quality control engineer at Sikorsky, until health challenges led to his retirement.
James was a talented three-sport varsity athlete at Newtown High School, excelling in football, basketball, and track. His athletic achievements earned him football scholarship offers from several prominent universities. He remained involved in the sport he loved by coaching Newtown Pop Warner football for many years. An avid Red Sox and New York Giants fan, he was also deeply passionate about politics and current events, always eager to engage in thoughtful discussions. Those who knew him will remember his consistently positive and happy disposition, his outgoing and personable nature, and the way he made everyone around him feel valued and liked.
James will be remembered for his dedication to family and community, his leadership in business and sports, his infectious optimism, and the kindness and enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and genuine warmth.
He was predeceased by his mother, Theresa Spinelli Jossick; his father, James L. Jossick Sr; and his stepmother, Maria Simms Jossick.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Pat Cannizzaro; his children, Brandon Jossick, Jonathan Jossick and his fiancé Rob, and Kevin Jossick and his wife Ashley; his granddaughter, Evelyn; his siblings, Lorraine Weber (Tom), Daniel Jossick, Sandra Jossick Anderson (Gordon), Ami Jossick Conlan (Tim), David Jossick (Deb), Kenneth Jossick, and Elizabeth Jossick (Giancarlo); his step-sisters, Shannon Sullivan Stillings (Kris) and Molly Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 8, from 4 to 7 pm, followed by a prayer service on Thursday, April 9, at 12:30 pm, at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road in Trumbull. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Botsford Fire Rescue or Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
