Early Care & Education Training Institute To Sponsor Dinner

DANBURY — The Early Care and Education Training Institute is sponsoring a dinner in celebration of the Week of the Young Child on Thursday, April 13, 2000, at 6:30 pm. Hedda Sharapan, associate producer for the PBS Children’s Show Mr Roger’s Neighborhood, will speak on “Strengthening Your Commitment to Early Care and Advancing Your Own Professional Development.” Ms Sharapan, often referred to as the “Neighborhood Ambassador on the Road,” has worked with Fred Rogers for 31 years.

The Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association of the Education of Young Children, each April focuses public attention on the rights and needs of children. Locally, the ECETI will focus attention on the many dedicated individuals who are responsible for young children’s care and the individual teacher’s continuing early childhood education through the Connecticut-Charts-A-Course Career Ladder.

The dinner and keynote will be held at the Colorado Brewery, 6 Delay Street in Danbury. The cost is $15.00 per person and is by advance reservation to 426-9663. Parents who use child care centers, family child care homes, nursery and preschools may sponsor their provider/teacher’s participation in this event by calling the same number.
