Visit C.H. Booth Library and join in the celebration of National Library Week on Wednesday, April 12, at 6:30 pm. Mary Jo Maichack, a professional storyteller from Holyoke, Mass., will present a program to share her love of reading and a good story.

Through original song Ms Maichack will inspire young readers to reach for books because they are fun and because they tickle the imagination, taking readers to places that are out of this world.

“Books are celebrations of everything in the world,” Ms Maichack likes to tell people.

As well as singing some original songs about the joy of reading, Ms Maichack will tell the story of The Tailor, a traditional story which is the basis for this year’s Caldecott winner, Joseph Had a Little Overcoat by Simms Toback. With the help of the audience and a paper bag or two, Ms Maichack will also act out The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch.

The program promises to be a lively, light-hearted evening full of good laughs and lots of song, dance, and good stories for the whole family. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and is free of charge.

Seating is limited to 75 and the program is recommended for children over the age of 4. Call the children’s department at C.H. Booth Library with any questions at 426-3851.
