Work Planned On I-84
NEWINGTON â Transportation Commissioner James F. Sullivan has announced that on or about Monday, April 10, work will begin for resurfacing, safety improvements, and bridge rehabilitation on a section of I-84 eastbound and westbound in Danbury.
H&R Leasing and L.G. DeFelice, Inc., of North Haven, will perform the work under a $10.5 million contract with the Department of Transportation. The project will extend from Exit 3 (Route 7) to Exit 8 (Newtown Road). In addition to the paving, repairs will be made to 12 bridges and the guide rail will be upgraded.
The contractor will be allowed to close lanes on I-84 eastbound and westbound during nighttime hours from 7 pm to 6 am and during the day from 9 am to 3 pm, Mondays through Fridays, while the work is in progress. At least one lane will remain open at all times in each direction on I-84.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed in July 2001.
