Newtown Public Schools Opens District Art Show
After its grand opening on March 30, Newtown Public Schools’ District Art Show is on display in the main corridor of Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street. The exhibition is open weekdays to April 9, and features art by students of all ages.
Various displays line the municipal center corridor walls, with each organized by grade, class, and medium. From fantasy landscapes and onomatopoeias to personified food sculptures and dresses, the art reflects the creativity, talent, and passion of local students.
Students are not alone in showcasing their creativity; the exhibit also features a small display of work by Newtown Public Schools' art teachers.
The district’s visual art departments celebrated the art show with an opening reception on March 31. Family and friends gathered into the municipal center as live music performed by Newtown High School (NHS) students filled the air.
There was also face painting provided by NHS National Art Honor Society students, along with purchasable snacks made by the high school’s culinary department.
