Canines Can Shine At 2011 Strutt Your Mutt
Every dog has its day, and for many Newtown pets that day will be Saturday, May 21, during the second annual Strutt Your Mutt. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the future Newtown dog park, sponsored by Newtown Parks & Recreation Department.
Registration is now underway for the all-day event, which will feature a 2k dog walk, demonstrations, and contests to be held on the Fairfield Hills campus. Registration the morning of the event will open at 9:30, with events scheduled to begin at 10:30.
Activities include jump-rope team demonstration and sheep herding demonstration, K9 Baro demonstration, and contests with prizes for the categories of Best Owner-Dog Look Alike, Best Kisser, Best Dressed, Fastest Eater, Shortest Tail, Longest Tail, and Best Dog Trick.
To register online, visit www.NewtownParkAndBark.org.
Cost for the event is $25 per person and up to two dogs through advance registration, and $30 on the day of the event. Kids under 12 and their dogs are free. Dogs of all breeds are welcome. It is suggested that only two dogs per person be entered.
