Hospital’s 20th Anniversary ‘Thank God I’m Female’ Forum April 15

WATERBURY — Women’s health issues will be the focus of Waterbury Hospital’s annual TGIF (Thank God I’m Female) women’s wellness forum on Friday, April 15, at the Villa Rosa Wedding & Banquet Facility. This year’s event, which has been sold out nearly every year since its inception, will feature special guest Teresa LaBarbera of WTNH News 8.

Proceeds from TGIF will benefit the Telemetry Unit at Waterbury Hospital, a 30-bed cardiac monitored unit where patients who are experiencing heart problems, recovering from certain cardiac tests or procedures, or who are at risk of cardiac events are continuously monitored.

This year’s program, titled, “If You Thought You Were Hot at 20, ‘Flash’ Forward to Menopause,” will feature keynote speakers John Lewis, MD, and Marcia Tejeda, MD. Dr Lewis and Dr Tejeda are seasoned presenters in private practice with The Center for Women’s Health in Connecticut, in Waterbury.

Dr Lewis received his medical degree from McGill University and did his residency at McGill University affiliated hospitals. He Lewis is chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Waterbury Hospital.

Dr Tejeda received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and fulfilled her residency at Columbia University Medical Center affiliated programs. She is active in the community and has served on the boards of many charitable organizations in the greater Waterbury area.

For information on TGIF or to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, call the hospital’s fund development office at 203-573-7691.
