Photos Of All Sizes And Styles,

On View At Booth Library

Flagpole Photographers placed 105 photos on display in the meeting room of C.H. Booth Library last past weekend and winners were chosen by professional photographers Grace Cribbins of Shelton and Jeremy Frost of Westport.

The list of winners chosen by the judges were as follows:

Color, first place, “Morning Glow” by Darrell Harrington; second, “Rainbow Falls” by Rick Tyrseck; third, “Sunset over Gravestones at Turtle Island, Taos,” by Mark Cassidy; and honorable  mentions were “Painted Hills at John Day Fossil Beds in Central Oregon” by Win Brickmeier and “Blue Moo” by Sheila Silvernail.

Black and White division, first place, “Men’s Club Noir” by Ercole Gaudioso; second, “Silo Storm” by Sheila Silvernail; third,  “Plane in Hangar” by Ercole Gaudioso; and honorable mentions, “Swiftly Flowing” by Rick Tyrseck and “Can’t Wait ‘Til Spring” by Paul Vuto.

Best in Show was awarded to “Cloudy Sunrise” by Rick Tyrseck.

The Dave Krieger Memorial Award, the club’s annual Nature Award, named in honor of its most notable nature photographer, was presented this year to Adriana Gomez for “Camouflage.”

The Jeannette Talarino Flower Award, an award that was named for the late Ms Talarino, who was known for her floral photography,  was won by Don Brooks for Japanese Iris.  The latter has been given since 2004 in honor of Jeanette Talarino, known for her flower photography.

“Lonesome Tree” by Dr Micheline Williams was given The Bruce Allen Open Color Print Award, named in honor of the memory of a past president of the club.

A public reception on Saturday, April 2, was well attended and several expressed interest in joining the Newtown based photography club. (Information is available by calling 203-270-9469 or visiting FlagpolePhotographers.com).

While the two judges selected the majority of the award winning photos for the annual exhibition, it was up to visitors on Saturday and Sunday to make their selection for People’s Choice Award. Guests voted Sandy Schill’s “Contemplating,” a  photo of a Bronx Zoo tiger, as their favorite.

The exhibit will continue to be on display through April 26.
