Basic Drawing Class
Offered To Youth
Newtown artist Suzanne Lang will lead a workshop on Basic Drawing Techniques for students ages 10 and up, at the C.H. Booth Library, Saturday, April 17, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. The class is limited to 15 students who either live in or attend school in Newtown. Professional grade materials will be used in this workshop. There is a $5 supply fee, payable at the program.
The two-hour workshop will include exploration of line drawing, shading techniques, and one- and two-point perspective. Students will complete simple sketches to explore different techniques and become comfortable with the materials, then move on to more detailed drawings.
Ms Lang has previously taught the Basic Drawing workshop at the library. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, she has her bachelorâs degree and certification in art education. She also has an associateâs degree in advertising art and design. In addition to giving private and semi-private art lessons in her home studio to students ages four through adult, Ms Lang teaches fourth and fifth grade students at Meeting House Hill School in New Fairfield. She teaches many mediums, including drawing, painting, ceramics, collage, printmaking, and sculpture.
Ms Lang has won awards for her own watercolor work from the Richter Art Association. She has lived in Newtown for 20 years, with her husband and two children.
