Cats On The Prowl
Cats On The Prowl
To the Editor:
I hope you print this plea to all the people out there who take no responsibility for their cats. The situation has become intolerable.
I have had two cats here in the past year. One, I managed to capture and now is residing at Berkshire Veterinary in Newtown. The other one just reappeared after a long winter. These cats are killing my wildlife; birds, including cardinals, woodpeckers, red-wing blackbirds, and mostly chipmunks. I am sick of irresponsible cat owners.
Where is the environmental agency in all of this. They have a lot to say about everything else! I have contacted the animal control division in Newtown. They were no help. Neither was the cat rescuer in Newtown. This is tragic. When you see feathers everywhere and dead chipmunks and not for killing for food you have to ask what is the purpose of the kill, other than people who have no conception of how precious our wildlife is? Someone, somebody, somehow needs to address this horrific scenario. If the cats were dogs they would need to be confined. Why is that not the same rule for cats. These cats are causing havoc to our wildlife.
