Childrenâs Program
*Dive Into the Ocean with Author Karen Romano Young:Â Author, illustrator and science journalist Karen Romano Young will show slides from her trip down into the ocean in a submersible named Alvin on Wednesday, April 21, at 2 pm.
After the presentation she will lead participants in a shark drawing activity. Karen will also sign copies of her books following the program, which is for ages 7-12. Registration is requested and can be done online.
Newtown artist and resident Suzanne Lang will offer another Basic & Perspective Drawing workshop on Saturday, April 17 from 12:30-2:30. The program is limited to 15 students ages 10-18 (grades 5-12) who either live or attend school in Newtown. Students must register online at www.chboothlibrary.org . No previous drawing experience is required to enroll. A $5 supply fee is payable at the program. As Mrs. Lang says, âAnyone can learn to draw; it just takes motivation and a lot of practice!â
Young Adult Programs

*Book Discussions: The Daytime Book Group will meet on Monday, April 12, at 1 pm, to discuss The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway.
*Pocketful of Poems: Celebrate poetry month on Tuesday, April 13, from 10 am to noon, with Ginger Humeston.
Weâll share favorite poetry in a creative way, create a line or two of our own, plus enjoy a healthy brunch, and most of all spend a joyous and fun time with friends and neighbors. Space is limited and reservations are a must; call the library or go online to make yours.
*College Admissions: The Good, the Bad, and the Internet
Stephanie Klein-Wassink, the owner of Winning Applications, will visit the library on Thursday, April 15, at 7 pm, to speak about recent changes in the college application process. With the advent of Facebook, YouTube and Twitter the rules have changed. Thereâs a lot to know!

*Job Search Help with Cheryl Schwartz: Cheryl will be at the library to present âJob Search Strategiesâ on Thursday, April 22, from 3 to 4:30 pm, and then back on Thursday, June 17, also 3-4:30 pm, with âThe Interview.â
*Literature And Life, A Lecture Series: Mark Schenker will conclude his lecture series with âJames Joyceâ on Wednesday, April 28, at 7 pm. He has been discussing the relationship between literature and life for readers who see themselves as what Virginia Woolf called âthe common readerâ: the regular, literate reader who seeks more than pleasure and escapism from literature but who is not a professional critic or literary practitioner.
