State Storm Damage Loans Offered
HARTFORD (AP) â The state of Connecticut is creating a $1.5 million low interest loan program to help homeowners make repairs and replace appliances damaged in last weekâs massive flooding.
Governor M. Jodi Rell said April 2 the program is available now to Connecticut homeowners. Information is posted on the governorâs website, www.ct.gov/governorrell.
The loans, offered at a two percent rate, will cover repairs to basements, foundations, roofs and insulation. The loans will also cover the purchase of appliances such as furnaces and hot water heaters damaged from basement flooding.
There will be limits on the loans. Also, applicants must provide verifiable proof that the damage occurred during these recent floods. Homeowners are urged to take photos and videos, and to keep detailed notes and measurements.
