Walk For Wishes To Bring Out Newtownâs Police
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut is holding the Walk for Wishes and Police Parade Saturday, May 8, at Jennings Beach in Fairfield. Newtown Middle School Resource Officer Lenny Penna said his Newtown Police Department team is looking for people to join or donate to the cause.
âJoin our team and help make wishes come true for Connecticut children with life-threatening medical conditions,â the teamâs website with Make-A-Wish reads.
According to the foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut, Inc, grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
The Walk for Wishes Police Parade is a noncompetitive three-mile walk and parade to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut, according to a listing of the event. The Newtown Police Department team will be joining police departments from across the state in the parade.
The event will include food and entertainment for the whole family, according to Make-A-Wish. Each walker is asked to collect a minimum donation of $25, and all registered participants will receive a commemorative Walk for Wishes Police Parade T-shirt and the opportunity to win prizes.
