To The Editor:

I cannot sufficiently express how proud I am of the College Democrats of Connecticut for coming to Newtown and hosting such a thoughtful event last week.

They didn’t just organize an event for our Democratic State Representative candidates. They created a serious, substantive forum that strengthened our democratic process. I was floored by the depth and rigor behind their questions. It was unmistakable how much heart they poured into making that night matter.

I was proud to be there. I was proud to stand alongside them. And I was proud to engage with young people who care deeply about the future of our state and our country.

We should be celebrating them, loudly.

The College Dems of CT are a serious, informed, and committed group. They are exercising their voice in competitive primaries across our state. They endorsed Governor Ned Lamont in his competitive primary, and I will work hard to earn their endorsement as well.

As a candidate for State Representative, let me be clear. I will ALWAYS show up, because Newtowners deserve nothing less from those seeking their trust. You will see me at debates, town events, and public forums, because showing up matters.

I will also show up to debates on April 20 at 7pm and May 4 at 7pm at the Newtown Community Center. I hope to see many Newtown voters there so I can answer YOUR hard questions.

And if you are a registered Democrat in Newtown, I hope to earn your support at the Democratic Caucus at 6pm on May 26 at the Newtown Middle School.

It’s clear that students are showing up for the future of our democracy. I proudly stand alongside them, and I hope you’ll do the same!

Brandon Moore
