Corrigan, Jr

Founder Of Bridgeport Fire Department

Credit Union

John J. Corrigan, Jr, 81, beloved husband of Filomena M. Corrigan, died April 8 in his home. He was born in Bridgeport, and was a lifelong city resident.

In addition to his devoted wife he is survived by two sons, Kevin J. Corrigan and his wife, Judy, of Newtown and John J. Corrigan III and his wife, Betsy, of Washington, Conn.; a daughter, Deborah K. Lang and her husband, Kurt, of Oxford; and six grandchildren.

Mr Corrigan served on the Bridgeport Fire Department for 33 years, retiring as battalion chief. He was a member of BARF (Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters) and the Aladdin Knights. He taught in the Power Squadron and was a founder and president of the Bridgeport Fire Department Credit Union, where he also founded the student loan program.

Burial will be private. Arrangements by County Cremation Services, Fairfield.
