Hearing In Waterbury

WATERBURY — The Connecticut Public Transportation Commission will hold a public hearing April 17 at 7:30 pm at the Waterbury City Hall, 235 Grand Street in room 225.

This will be one of three hearings that the commission holds statewide this spring to gather testimony from the public, transportation providers, public officials, and other entities concerning the operation of public transportation services including CT Transit local bus service, intercity bus service, Metro-North commuter train service, dial-a-ride and ADA transportation, and other issues. The commission seeks public comment on the extent to which existing services are meeting public needs and on improvements or new services to address unmet travel needs.

In addition to the topics mentioned above, the commission is also interested in testimony on the evening bus service instituted last October, improvements for bus travelers at The Green, the new bus garage facility proposed in Watertown, Jobs Access transportation services, and the adequacy of funding to maintain existing services.

In addition to this April 17 public hearing in Waterbury, the commission will also hold public hearings this spring in Storrs on April 24 and in Bridgeport on May 16. The commission will use the testimony received at its public hearings to prepare recommendations for its annual report to the Governor, the transportation commissioner, and the General Assembly’s transportation committee.

Additional information on the commission’s public hearings may be obtained from Dennis J. King, ConnDOT’s liaison to the commission, at 860-594-2820.
