Alison Kelleher had a save in goal. In the second half, the Dynamites stepped up pressure on the visiting team, resulting in the game’s three goals. The first goal was scored by Brooke Antous with an assist by Keely Kortze. Jenna Lavelle found the back of the net next followed by another by Brooke Antous, this time with an assist from Jenna Lavelle. Audrey Benson made three saves and the defense was relentless with strong play by Lu Hage, Lauren Carrino, and Grace Corcoran.

The Defense for the Panthers was led by Audrey Sedensky’s solid presence and Greta Staubly’s strong defense returns. In the first half, the lone goal was scored on a corner kick booted by Sophia Albano to Ashling Sugarman who found the net. In the second half, Newtown scored on a penalty kick — Chloe Rogalin’s shot sailed by the Fairfield goalie. Cassidy Keller, Lauren Cirone and Taylor Pare continued to keep the offensive pressure on the opponent. The Dynamite also played well on defense with Katie Elkins, Brianna Lutz, and Mia Katsuleres keeping Fairfield at bay. Newtown Netrippers 4, Greenwich 0: Newtown opened spring soccer impressively, with a 4-0 win against tough Greenwich. CJ Trivers locked down the goal, and defensive moves by birthday boy Hunter Procaccini, James Barden, and Ryan Brello shut down Greenwich. Evan Eggleston cleared one goal, then ripped one — literally — with another blast through the back of the net. Mighty Matt Gerbo found his own goal, with great assist from Brendan O’Hara. A corner kick and aggressive play by Nick Harper, Aiden Ford, and Grant Larson overwhelmed Greenwich, which inadvertently scored on itself

Newtown Vipers 4, Danbury Hurricanes 2: The Vipers started their spring season with their first appearance in the CSJA A league with a 4-2 upset over the strong Danbury Hurricanes. The Vipers pulled ahead in the first half with a chip into the goal by Henry Vaughan assisted by Dylan Soc. The Hurricanes came rushing back strong in the second and scored within minutes of the half. Vaughan again was able to find the back of the net with a perfectly fed pass from Owen Sullivan. Maintaining their momentum, Sock was able to score off a well-placed corner kick by Bryce Bisset and then moments later with a pass from Travis Huzina sealing the Vipers win. All said, this victory must be accredited to the amazing defensive abilities of Jack McDermott, Adam Farley, Danny Schreiber, Declan Sughrue and Huzina assisted by midis Sean Arnold and Jackson Dooley, who collectively thwarted the many offensive attacks by the Hurricanes. CJTrivers protected his goal with 11 saves while Sugrue had 3.
