Newtown’s Latest Student Musicians Of Note

Forty-three students of Newtown High School and Newtown Middle School were accepted into state-wide and regional music festivals this year. The students were selected based on an audition they performed earlier in the school year.

All-State participants competed against more than 4,000 high school musicians from across the state in a two-tier audition process.

“Students spent two long days rehearsing and working with some of our nation’s most prestigious conductors,” said Newtown High School director of music Michelle Hiscavich. “The performances have been magnificent.

“It is very exciting to have so many of our students representing Newtown,” Ms Hiscavich continued. “We are very proud of their accomplishments.”
