May Is Foster Care Month
May is National Foster Care Month. It is a time to raise awareness about the more than 1,300 children in Connecticut awaiting placement in a loving home. It is a time to acknowledge the many foster parents and/or relative caregivers who are providing a home for a child in need. It is a time to mobilize new families for those children still waiting.
Family and Childrenâs Aid invites you to an event celebrating National Foster Care Month. Spring into Actionâ¦for Kids, will be held at the Southbury Green on Main St. near the Southbury Green Shopping Center in Southbury, Connecticut on May 8h between 11 am and 5 pm. It is an occasion including music, games for children, food, and entertainment from local talent. The elite and junior elite dancers from Southbury School of Performing Arts will be performing at 1 pm and the Southbury Academy of Karate and Fitness will host a demonstration during the day. All are welcome to come and enjoy.
Family and Childrenâs Aid is a non-profit organization that contracts with the Department of Children and Families to provide for children who cannot live with their biological parents or their extended families. The majority of these children have suffered abuse or neglect of some kind, and often exhibit behaviors that need correcting by a caring adult who can provide a safe home and consistent parenting. Family and Childrenâs Aid provides cost-free training and ongoing support to assist with the care of these children.
