Resignation Opens Vacancy On Ethics Board
Resignation Opens Vacancy
On Ethics Board
Former Republican Selectman Paul Mangiafico is resigning from his recently appointed position on the Board of Ethics. His resignation is required because he served as a town official within the last three years, rendering him ineligible to serve on that particular board.Â
As a result, First Selectman Pat Llodra is calling for interested community members who are eligible for the appointment to contact her office to express their desire to serve. The opening can be filled by a registered Republican, Independent, or an unaffiliated voter.
The Board of Ethics is composed of six regular members and two alternate members. The first selectman, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, appoints all members to this board.
The Board of Ethics is charged with the administration of the Code of Ethics and receives and investigates any complaints of violations of the Code of Ethics. The board meets the first Thursday, every other month, and typically only when there is business to come before the panel.
Interested persons must submit documents to the Office of the First Selectman no later than May 11.
According to First Selectman Pat Llodra, the Board of Selectmen is planning to fill the ethics board vacancy at the May 17 meeting. Mrs Llodra said that meeting will also include the appointments to the Fairfield Hills Master Plan Review Committee.Â
Persons interested in this committee must submit documents to the Office of the First Selectman no later than May 3. Review committee appointments are scheduled to be made by Board of Selectmen on May 17.
The first selectman believes that the deadline for submission of documents from persons interested in serving on the Master Plan Review Committee was not sufficiently well communicated. That deadline was to be April 5 with appointment action on May 3.
An extension is being offered to ensure that all interested persons have the opportunity to participate. Â
Finally, any registered Newtown voter may request to fill an opening on the Lake Lillinonah Authority, which is also scheduled to be filled on May 3. Interested persons must submit their interest in filling this position to the First Selectman no later than April 28.
