Golf Team Wins First Three Matches
Newtown High School’s boys’ golf team won its first three matches of the season as the Nighthawks went into play on Thursday with a visit to Bunnell of Stratford.
The Nighthawks opened the regular campaign against visiting Brookfield at Rock Ridge Country Club on April 9. Newtown shot a 165 and Brookfield shot a 182. Newtown’s Bubba LeBlanc had a 39 to earn medalist honors. Graham Hubbert shot a 44, and Colin Patrick, Josh Houle, and Vivek Tedla all shot a 42 in the win.
On April 10 Newtown visited Masuk at Whitney Farms Golf Course in Monroe and came away with a 171-190 victory. LeBlanc and Houle both shot a 42, Patrick shot a 47, Hubbert had a 44, and Tedla finished with a 43.
Newtown returned home to face Bethel on April 14 and earned a 156-187 win. LeBlanc shot a 38, Houle had a 43, Patrick had a 39, Tedla shot a 42, and Hubbert had a 37.
The Nighthawks, following the Bunnell match, are slated to have consecutive home matches when Stratford and Immaculate of Danbury visit Rock Ridge for 3 pm tee offs on April 21 and 22, respectively.
