Newtown Choral Society will perform music from Cole Porter to Coldplay at their spring concert Sunday April 27, at 3:30 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

The concert, “The Music of the Night,” will be under the direction of Mary Andreotta, with accompaniment by Susan Anthony-Klein.

Tickets are $10, $8 for students and seniors, and will be available at the door.

From Barber’s “Sure on this Shining Night,” composed in 1928, to “Some Nights” by Fun., composed in 2012, the choir will be exploring the fascination that night has held for one prominent composer after another. The choir will also be performing Billy Joe’s “River of Dreams,” “In the Wee Small hours of the Morning,” Porter’s “In the Still of the Night,” Elton John’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?,” Van Morrison’s “Moondance,” and, of course “The Music of the Night” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Now in its 28th year, the choral society welcomes members from all area towns and asks only that prospective members have a love of singing and a willingness to learn. They rehearse, and present concerts, working under their motto “We take our music seriously, not ourselves.”

For more formation about the concert or future membership, call 203-426-3769 or send e-mail to lel-ncs@se-ltd.com.

Originally scheduled for December 13, the winter concert of Newtown Choral Society will instead be performed on January 17 at Newtown Meeting House.
